Tasting Note by Nick Bulleid MW
Background

Coonawarra had a warm spring and early summer with good rainfall, which encouraged strong, healthy vine growth. A hot, dry January led to small berries and concentrated flavours. The harvest took place in mild weather and largely uninterrupted by rain. 2006 is regarded as a high quality vintage for Cabernet Sauvignon in Coonawarra.

The Cabernet sauvignon (100%) grapes for this wine were all grown in Coonawarra. The wine was matured in a mixture of one and two year-old French and American oak hogsheads and barriques for 18 months.

The wine shows the elegant, medium body and fine tannin balance of which Coonawarra Cabernet is renowned. It is ready to drink now, but will soften further and continue to build cedary complexity until at least 2014.
