2006 Kooyonga Chapel Cabernet Sauvignon

2006 Kooyonga Chapel Cabernet Sauvignon
Kooyonga Chapel, located south of Benalla in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, is a small winery owned and operated by the Saunders family.

The mild climate extends the ripening period and adds to the complexity and intensity of flavour in the grapes. This wine is only 13.4% alc/vol and a very good example of a small parcel of high quality cool climate red wine.

Selected and independently endorsed by Nick Bulleid MW, this wine was produced from just a 4 acre block. It is a mature, elegantly styled Cabernet Sauvignon.

Nick Bulleid's Tasting Note

Colour
Spot on for its age – a mid garnet red.

Nose
Complex and intense, with developed blackcurrant and cedar.

Structure / Palate
Medium-bodied and stylish, with intense dark berry flavours, complexity from bottle-age and well-balanced, firm tannins.

The wine is fully mature and has developed beautiful complexity in bottle. It should hold its quality through 2012. At its best with red meats, particularly lamb dishes.
