What does Nick Bulleid's qualification "Master of Wine" represent?
The "Master of Wine" is the wine trade's most famous and demanding professional qualification earned by passing extensive tasting and written examinations given by the Institute of Masters of Wine, a British organization established in 1953.

In May each year, candidates sit almost week long examinations comprising four written papers and three practical (wine tasting) papers. These include blind tastings of about three dozen wines (sourced from anywhere in the world), written tests on viticulture, vinification, various aspects of the wine trade, the history of wine, and knowledge of wine markets around the world.

The pass rate for the examination is notoriously low. In 2003, only 9 candidates passed the examination.
There are still only 245 Masters of Wine in the world 50 years after the qualification's inception.
