The superb 2007 vintage in Margaret River shows in the concentrated flavours and excellent structure of this wine.
It shows fragrant blackcurrant fruit and cedary complexity from maturation for two years in French oak. The intense flavours are framed by a stylish, yet firm tannin structure which will help the wine develop in bottle until at least 2015, while having the balance to drink well now.
Excellent with red meats, in particular lamb.

2007 was a tremendous vintage for red wines in Margaret River, and it shows in the concentrated, ripe fruit in this Shiraz.
The wine has rich, sweet blackberry fruit and peppery overtones enhanced with further complexity from subtle hints of nutmeg and vanilla from French & American oak. After a generous start, the palate tightens towards the finish with fine, firm tannins.
This excellent Shiraz is ready to drink, but will develop spicy and cedary complexity until at least 2015. It is a great partner to any full-flavoured red meat dishes.

Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot are three varieties that are particularly well suited to growing in the Margaret River winegrowing region. When blended together these varieties form a divine trinity creating a unique wine. The Malbec provides the fruit power and colour, the petit verdot the length and texture and the Merlot the structure. The fruit which made this wine came from a single vineyard in the Wilyabrup subregion of Margaret River belonging to Rick Cullen and Bettina Mangan. A wine with great drinkability and ageing potential.

Strong purple-red; the powerful but pristine bouquet proclaims the blackberry/blackcurrant/cassis fruit of the palate framed by the inimitable Cullen tannins which run through from the mid-palate to the finish. Best Drinking: 2008-2018."

One of Australia's true benchmark wines, broodingly powerful in its youth, but slowly unfolding with age." Rating: 95 out of 100 James Halliday

"Ruby-red. Cassis, licorice, spices, herbs and tobacco leaf on the nose, with a minty nuance. Sweet and intense in the middle, with distinctly claret-like flavors of currant, tobacco leaf and herbs. Very suave wine, finishing with big, lush, fine-grained tannins that coat the front teeth. The wine's breadth and back-end sweetness suggest it will be even better for five or six years of additional bottle aging."

95 pts “A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Cullen's flagship wine is named in honor of
Vanya's mother. Intense but balanced and layered, it has great complexity and finesse. Floral notes
and aromatic hints of herbs and spice get this wine off to a great start, and nicely interwoven ripe
fruit flavors finish with supple tannins. It's a marvelous tribute.

Roasted black cherry syrup on the nose, along with an exotic hint of apricot from the viognier. Sappy and fruit-driven, with liqueur-like flavors of black cherry and black raspberry. Densely packed and sweet. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins that turned a bit dry with aeration.

This is a beautifully elegant offering. The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon's opaque purple color accompanies a sweet perfume of smoke- black currants- and licorice. This full-bodied Cabernet possesses noticeable tannic structure yet gorgeously sweet as well as pure fruit- a layered texture- and a long- spicy finish. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020." 93 points Drink 2005-2020 Wine Advocate #143
