Deep, almost blackish red colour, with garnet on the rim. Very complex, ripe, sweet fruit on the nose with hints of plums and prunes. New oak adds some vanilla. Full-bodied palate, with generous, ripe dark fruit flavours and showing distinct earthy complexity from bottle-age. Finishes with plenty of firm, but balanced tannin. A big red wine, reminiscent of our BackVintage McLaren Vale Shiraz of the same year, that will continue to soften and develop complexity for at least six years. It demands a steak or a rich winter casserole.
