Tasting Notes by Nick Bulleid MW
Background

The growing season brought no surprises in Clare, with a warm December, then a normal but dry January that was followed by welcome rain in February. Picking started earlier than usual, but the late-ripening Sangiovese was one of the last, picked on 20th March.
The wine, 100% Sangiovese, was matured for 15 months in three year-old French oak barrels.

Colour
Bright, light to mid red.

Nose
Fresh and fragrant, showing raspberry aromas and savoury hints.

Structure / Palate
Medium bodied, with lively red fruit flavours. Finishes with fine, dry tannin, finishing with good length.

This wine starts in the mouth with sweet, fresh red fruits before the more savoury notes so typical of Sangiovese take over, accompanied by its slightly gritty tannins. It’s delicious with pasta, savoury salads with olives and anchovies or osso bucco.
