Huon Hooke 2020 The Real Review:
Ranked #28 out of 52 Barossa Cabernet blends tasted by the Real Review.

Tasting Notes by Nick Bulleid MW

This full-bodied wine combines Cabernet sauvignon and Shiraz grapes from the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Spring in the Barossa was warm and dry, and summer continued in the same vein, punctuated by hot spells and a welcome 25mm of rain at the end of January. The result was red wines with full, ripe flavours. This excellent example matured for 11 months in French, American and Hungarian oak barrels.

Deep red-garnet

Good depth of dark fruits and red berries and from the two varieties, with nutmeg from spicy French oak.

Structure / Palate
Full bodied. Dark fruits, a little chocolate, and cedary complexity from bottle-age. Evenly balanced tannins and excellent length.

The wine will continue to develop complexity through 2023. It’s great with generously flavoured red meats dishes or with char-grilled vegetables.

Huon Hooke 2020 The Real Review:
"Quality, toasty French oak. Fruit is ripe and showing first signs of development, plum sauce and hoisin rather than bright berries. It remains a rich and compelling wine, though the clock is ticking. Decant."
Drink to 2023.
