Tasting Notes by Nick Bulleid MW

Spring in the Barossa was wet and cool and this slowed the growing season. The result was a welcome change from the early vintages of recent years. This flavoursome wine combines grapes from the warmth of the Barossa Valley and the cooler Eden Valley. It was matured for nine months in American and French oak barrels.

Mid-deep purple-red.

Good depth of red and dark fruits, with subtle vanilla from oak.

Structure / Palate
Rich, sweet fruit flavours and fine tannin structure. Characteristic Barossa intensity is offset by the fine tannins of 2017.

This wine is fully ready to enjoy, but will continue to gain complexity through 2024. Try it with generously flavoured red meats or char-grilled vegetables.

Huon Hooke 2019 The Real Review:
“Dark cherry-red colour, medium-weight in the glass. Lifted red fruits with bass notes coming from black plums and clove spice. A soft, supple expression of the Barossa - quality, grainy oak - fruit rolling gently off tannin and soft acidity. Easy drinking."
Top Value. Drink to 2023.
