The 2017 season started with a wet Spring. Summer and Autumn were mostly cool, leading to the latest vintage for several years. The wine matured in one third new and two thirds 1- and 2-year-old French and American oak barrels for 18 months.
Colour Mid-deep red.
Nose Fragrant red fruits – plum, a touch of raspberry jam. Distinct black pepper and a little cedar.
Structure / Palate Medium body. Stylish and supple yet full-flavoured. Red fruit, black pepper and spices. Fine, soft tannins with a fresh touch of acidity. Good length. The cool Summer has given intense flavours in an elegant medium bodied wine. The wine will gain more complex, cigar box and spicy complexity into 2023. Ideally suited to red meats, various barbecued dishes including vegetables and many pasta sauces.
