2018 BackVintage Watervale Riesling - New

Background

The 2018 season in Clare Valley was unusually warm and dry. The quality and floral, citrus intensity of this wine has delighted us. The grapes for this wine again came from Neil and Heather Grace’s dry-grown vineyard in Watervale. After pressing, the free-run juice was fermented cool in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh varietal fruit.

Nose
Fresh, with lemon and lightly floral aromas

Structure/Palate
Full citrus flavours in a crisp palate with medium body - more than is often found in Riesling. The wine is nevertheless lively and refreshing.

This wine is a full-flavoured expression of classic Watervale Riesling. Riesling is delicious drunk young, but this example will develop complex, toasty flavours past 2022. Try it with salads or seafood or, as it ages, with fuller flavoured dishes.
