Nick Bulleid MW's Tasting Note

Background
Château Ciceron is near Lagrasse, west of Narbonne, in the Languedoc Roussillon region. The nearby Mediterranean coast brings a hot, humid climate, with its ability to get flavour in late ripening grape varieties.

The grapes are 100% Syrah (Shiraz) from old bush-pruned vines. These were crushed, then given six hours contact between juice and skins before pressing in a gentle airbag press. Fermentation then proceeded for 6-10 days, as for a white wine. The winemaker was Claude Vialade, previously director of the AOC Corbières syndicate, before she launched her wine production company.

Colour
Pale salmon pink

Delicate, with strawberry and red cherry fragrance

Structure / Palate
Round, with red fruit flavours. Crisp, balanced acidity. Light texture that perfectly suits the wine to food.

This is a delicious, dry rosé with the flavour and body to accompany summer lunches or light food and salads on any occasion. Enjoy it into late 2020.
