Nick Bulleid MW's Tasting Note

Background
The Chardonnay grapes (100%) for this wine grew in the Manjimup region, south of Margaret River.

The vineyards were struck by hail early, but caused no damage as the grapes hadn’t formed. This was followed by unseasonably hot weather in December with temperatures in the low 40’s for a week, which had an impact on yield. After this period, there were wonderful growing conditions through the vintage with small pockets of rain towards the end.

The grape juice was cold-fermented in steel tanks to preserve freshness and varietal flavour. The wine was bottled without oak maturation.

Colour
Pale to medium yellow.

Nose
Fresh white and yellow peach aromas.

Structure / Palate
Medium to full body. Ripe, stonefruit flavours, with a hint of melon. Finishes fresh with a little warmth from alcohol and balanced acidity.

This is an unoaked Chardonnay. Versatile for many occasions or food choices. My own preference would be a chicken, seafood or Thai salad, but any light dish would work. Best enjoyed while young before the end of 2022.
