BackVintage 2014 McLaren Vale Shiraz
Our 2014 McLaren Vale Shiraz started its journey as 20.5 tonnes of B+/A- grade fruit sourced from Block 8 on Connors Farm (160 hectare vineyard) in McLaren Vale...fermented in Langhorne Creek and matured in new Taranseau and Saury oak barrels under Mike Farmilo's watchful eye in McLaren Vale...

Nick's latest assessment...
Sitting Good deep purple-red. Rich red berries on nose – plum, raspberry. Intense, fresh, good nutmeg oak. The oak flavour’s more apparent on palate, but good. Mid-full body, quite stylish. Good depth. Not a Vale heavyweight (good!!). Fine tannins, very good balance.
I think this is really good. It has intensity without overboard weight. I wouldn’t have thought it needed much more time in barrel, but Mike, you know McLV red better than me....

For release in mid this space !!
And the winner is...

BackVintage 2014 Frankland River Pinot Noir

James Halliday's Wine Companion June/July 2015 - just published!
BackVintage 2014 Frankland River Pinot Noir
This full-flavoured wine, enhanced by 10% whole bunches used during fermentation, shows red cherry and raspberry fruit matched with balanced firm tannins. Delicious with duck and lamb dishes. Cellaring 2017+

What makes this pinot noir such a standout?
Being only slightly warmer that Burgundy, the Frankland River is an ideal region for growing pinot noir. The grapes have ripened slowly, maximising intensity and flavour. It's fruit forward, approachable and well made...need we say more?
